PRODUCERS

The directors of New Style Motherlode (Teela Shine & Corey Action) and FUNKMODE (Cara Young & Mighty) have over a hundred years of combined performance experience and dance training including 2 dance degrees from the California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles and Arizona State University. They have written, directed and produced many original shows across the US and as far away as Asia. While these experiences have proved invaluable, NSM and FUNKMODE are even more excited to be bringing such a unique show FIRST to their home in The Bay.

NEW STYLE MOTHERLODE
Corey Action and Teela Shine founded New Style Motherlode in 1997. It is an African American based but culturally diverse company that fuses Hip Hop, Jazz, Ballet, Modern and theatrical themes to present a realm of dance never seen before. After performing throughout the Bay Area and presenting an annual concert for years, Teela and Corey formed a permanent residence in the beautiful Rockridge district of Oakland with New Style Motherlode Dance Studio. Growing strong every year, New Style Motherlode is now home to youth performance companies Diamond and Sparkle and have even been presented with the highly respected and coveted Isadora Duncan Award for their outstanding work with their groundbreaking Juke Joint Show in 2006.

FUNKMODE
After traveling California and Arizona as individual dance instructors and performers, Cara and Mighty decided to bring their Modern and Hip Hop imaginations together to form FUNKMODE in 2003. Since then FUNKMODE has grown into a performing arts school in Pleasant Hill serving hundreds of students, a production company for original shows like last Spring's sold-out FUNK-O-VISION and a performance company which creates work specifically for viewing on the internet.
